Dana confirmed that the announcement had nothing to do with Mayweather, a TV deal, going public or WWE. If the action figures were the big announcement the CNBC interviewer would have asked questions about the big announcement. He would have asked questions like, "Why is this such a big deal for the UFC?".

Bottom line there is still an announcement to be made later this week.

For the people that are discrediting the action figure announcement, it is still quite significant. The UFC/MMA supporting demographic has been 18-34, with the action figures they will be tapping into a younger audience. This will help push MMA into the mainstream.

As far as a source is concerned, I watched the segment on CNBC.

ok if it has nothing to do with mayweather, a tv deal, going public, or wwe than wat the fuck is it going to be??

co promotion? signing fedor? bj penn vs gsp, gsp vs silva, silva vs liddell? i thought for sure it was a tv deal or something wat THE FUKCK IS IT GOING TO BE?????????????????????????

Action Figures are dumb that announcement was worthy of a sidebar in a trade journal not a CNBC piece...if the announcement on Thursday has anything to do with the WWE then I can turn my back on the UFC and never look back.

I'd probably buy a Wand action figure and maybe a Rampage one. That way they can square off every day on my desk at work!

He also confirmed that Zuffa wasn't going to buy PRIDE and that the idea was ridiculous like 1 day before they announced the purchase...

Thanks for the post. I don't think people realize the income that toys and merchandise bring. George Lucas wanted the rights to all Star Wars toys and merchandise with the release of the first movie. Fox could care less about that and agreed. It proved a huge mistake for Fox and they lost billions of would be profit. It's no wonder that merchandise and toys are now more profitable than the movies themselves.

What this means is more pay for fighters.

Dude, you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. Yes, announcing action figures on CNBC seems a bit much, but it's great that the UFC was able to make the announcement in such a setting. By doing so the UFC gained great exposure and gained publicity for the Thursday announcement from a media outlet they otherwise wouldn't have utilized. For the people that watched CNBC today the majority probably aren't fans, so if they follow up on Thursday they may see the UFC's announcement as being big even if the diehards don't.
