During the PPV, did you ever see footage of Dana White anywhere? No Octagon appearance, no shots of him in the crowd, nothing.

Do you think the Fertittas said "Look budy, you can't even say 'the best of all time' correctly, and you screwed it up the second time even after plenty of people told you it was incorrect when you said 'all times.' You got no chance of getting back in that Octagon live and on camera!"

If he really did not make an appearance, don't you think that's a little odd?

He did put the belt on Chuck. I think he was just avoiding saying anything because Wanderlei/Chuck is off, and if he wasn't going to confirm that fight then he would have had to officially admit that it's not going to happen.
