Michael Bisping at Clash of Warriors

Quote:
Cage fighting is big business with an estimated 300 million fans around the globe. What is it? you're asking. Well, Chris Tarrant ain't chucking buckets of water around, that's for sure. As the title suggests, it's in a cage and like the Ultimate Fighting Champion phenomenon in the US (you know, that one the rich guy off Friends had a go at) it's a no-holds-barred mix of boxing, wrestling and martial arts.

Sounds like bare knuckle boxing on the gypsy camps but this is a fully regulated combat sport, often referred to as Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA. So no biting or eye-gouging is allowed and fighters must wear protective gloves.

Fans of the sport include George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg, who are set to star in a film about cage fighting.

This weekend's event features the toughest mixed martial arts fighters from the Midlands verses fighters from Scotland, Ireland, Iran, Poland, Lithuania, Denmark and as a far away as Brazil.

Special guests from America 's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be there including England's Michael "The Count" Bisping (left), a Cage Rage light heavy weight champion.

Doors open 5pm, with the first bout commencing at 6pm.

Standard tickets are £30, VIP £50 or why not buy a table for seven for £600 (including buffet and wine)?

And hey lads, don't tell the missus but every ticket includes entry to the aftershow party at, ahem, Senoritas upstairs. Nice.
