The commercial they have now show Fedor punching a bag and say "the best MMA fighter, in his prime, comes to CBS Nov 7." That's really all that needs to be said. They could show the AA ko over and over and that would be enough.

Just goes to show how important it is for guys to control their image.

If that was the case why are Pride Worldwide able to sell these:
Pride - Shockwave 2006 [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: DVD

Pride 32 - The Real Deal [2006] [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: DVD

Pride Fighting Championships: Final Conflict 2005 DVD Region 1 US Import NTSC: Amazon.co.uk: Artist Not Provided: DVD

Well this source says that the UFC owns it all:

UFC To Dust Off Archive Footage for The Best of Pride Fighting Championships TeeVee Series | squabbles.com

Quote:
The show will include segments of the former Pride stars that now work for the UFC like Dan Henderson, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Anderson Silva, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filopovic, and Wanderlei Silva.
Spike and the UFC also own lots of footage of Fedor Emelianenko, and you can be he’ll figure prominently in the initial broadcasts.

The UFC also put together an official Pride storefront at PRIDEFCSTORE.COM. The store includes shirts, shorts, hats and other assorted items.

If you can’t get Emelianenko to sign with your promotion, you might as well use bits of him, and the UFC (through their ownership of Pride assets) is sure to get good mileage from the old footage.

If Fedor owned all of his footage you would see it in CBS promos and would have seen it in Affliction promos as well.

Besides how the hell would Fedor own it anyway? Fight takes two people and an organization to get behind it...

He may get a cut if a DVD sells, but he can;t OWN all the footage, he's only a third of the picture.. no sane organiation would make a deal like that with anyone even Fedor

No it's you, according to what I'm reading and this thread:

View topic - seen the first fedor ad... • UFC & MMA Forums at MMAjunkie.com

The commercial they showed was garbage and they could not show any of his previous fights because get this....................the UFC owns Pride, and Affliction.

Fedor is not special he fought for them just like everyone else did. And the rights to the footage are part of the UFC library now.

Amazing..

one thing is for sure, none of you are Creative Art Directors who are successful and designing ad campaigns...

To see you guys pretend like you know what CBS needs in order to fill a 30 sec spot is something to laugh about...

While the TS does make an interesting point, I doubt how many more people are going to tune based on any hype footage that exists for Fedor, as great as he is. It's "that UFC stuff" on free TV. The second EXC event didn't have as many viewers without the Kimbo/Carano connection, I know, but they also did like zero marketing for the event compared to the other 2.

What I'm getting at is that, I don't think it much matters...

Where the hell did this rumor come from that the UFC owns the Affliction video library...they don't. Affliction just let the UFC use it. I can go on Xbox right now and buy the 2 Affliction shows in their entirety from the HDNet section on Xbox Live, I highly doubt HDNet would be able to sell them if the UFC owned them.
