Can Matt Finish Penn????????

I am of the opinion that is more likely that Penn finishes Hughes rather then vice-versa.

Hughes keys to victory: Cardio, strength. Doubt he can sub or tKO unless total exhaustion sets in on Bj's part. His Jiu Jitsu, although improved is not as good as Penn's. His striking, although imprioved is not as good as Penn's. His wrestling is the only advantage he has and that is a skill that can win fights but not a skill that finishes them (or rarely).

Penn's keys to victory: Superior striking. Standing, BJ has the advantage. Superior jiujitsu, world champ... need i say more. Penn has subbed him before, he can sub him again.

it is likely that if this fight gets out of the first (I think it will), that Bj gets taken down at some point. Penn has an amazing defensive guard making it difficult to land damaging blows. I doubt matt will be able to stop him unless bj comes in unprepared and gasses later in the fight.

- penn can finish this in a variety of ways, but if the fight gets out of the third round... I would predict Hughes wins by decision. this fight will be similiar to the GSP fight I think, but penn might be more agressive on the ground.

my prediction is Penn by sub, early round 3... i hope Hughes wins though so GSP can take the belt.

BJ has never even been close to being stopped, and that includes bigger stronger opponents than Matt. Matt can't sub him, and his strength/size is a wash because it's not like BJ isn't used to that. His wrestling is better for sure, but that's it. BJ can stop Matt, but if Matt wins, it'll be by decision. I know BJ is the underdog, but that's when he performs at his best. With that said, Penn by sub.

RNC, Penn will either tap, or black out.

I think Matt can pull it off.

Finishing Penn would be huge.

Penn could lose by Decision (has happened before) but that would mean it would be a tough ass fight for Hughes. while Hughes could be finished by Penn (has happened before) by Submission.

I wouldnt touch this fight as a betting man. I dont know how much Hughes has improved from that loss, but Penn also said his lost to GSP helped him improve and made him learn things he wouldnt have before.

Hughes sounds determined to get that loss off his record. and Penn also sounds determinded to be Champion again

Should be tough to call

I don't know if Matt can even win the fight let alone finish BJ. If he does finish, maybe a crazy looping power shot would do it. He'd have to do something crazy.

Good analysis though.

He is a solid all-around fighter thats why. I can see Matt taking a decision, but I can't see him winning any other way. I can see BJ by decision, TKO (possibly but doubt it), sub (very possible). Remember, BJ rocked Matt twice in the first fight. The punch that allowed BJ to stunned Matt and allowed BJ to put him on his back with ease, no Rogan Matt just didn't "kinda fall down on his own". Everyone uses the excuse that Matt took BJ lightly, but Matt told BJ himself that he didn't take him lightly or underestimate him. All I know is its gonna be a war regardless. I don't think anyone will have a dominant performance against each other.

If anybody in the world can do it at 170 it's Hughes.

I'm contemplating putting money on this one. I usually wouldn't go near a fight like this, but I have a feeling.

Did you see the kimura he put on Royce. I thought for sure his arm had been broken. I think he can use his wrestling and strength to get in the same position with BJ, but because BJ still has a career and does not want a broken arm, he would tap if he were in Royce's place.

Either one is capable of stopping each other.
