I almost hate to admit it, but the UFC was more exciting back in the old days before it became a "sport."

I feel for Wing Chun practioners after that fight. I know they must really see this fight as a very bad example for someone to use who is shittin on the art. That dude look like he never fought a real fight in his life.

Even my dad said that and he is a old school Boxing enthusiast.

they are part of the sport. This sport is violent (quite more violent in the old days as compared to now but still violent)

Some old Wand or Shogun from Pride is much more brutal IMO. Though I think we can all agree the first UFC's are about a 100x better than the first couple of Pride events.

Depands. You had your 90 minute lay and pray matches which were horrible to watch.

You also had fat bar room brawlers trying to misrepresent a art only to make it look like a joke.

Other than that yeah, the brutality at the time was very (and sadistically) entertaining.

White patch of something...

I remember watching the Keith Hackney vs Emmanuel Yarlborough fight.

If I remember right, Keith couldnt finish the night despite winning.

Pretty obvious his hand was going to be fubar after thumping a melon that big so many times!

UFC 3 was the first MMA event I ever saw. I believe Ken Shamrock was the only man to actually win two fights in that event.

No shame at all in admitting that. The MMA fans that have been here for the longhaul were of course originally drawn to the spectacle, the Bloodsport aspect, the voyeurism. Then we evolved as we recognised the skills of Royce, admired those with the real skills and the gradual sanitising of the event into a professional sport.
Now we have the luxury of enjoying both - the awesome technical skills and physical prowess of the competitors - and the occassional brutal beatdown.

Dubs, not Ban.

From the FAQ regarding Double Yellowcards:
#4 is something about posting copyrighted material including full fights.

Not that I'm complaining. I like watching these.
