...that being said I would have stopped the kimbo fight after the first 15 seconds of unanswered blows as well.

Maybe, but i dont think he got hit 26 times and didnt seem to be hurt or out.
We agree that Vera was in a very very very bad position of course, but can you tell me a better way to defend in that situation?

Vera was robbed and the fans too!
Total BS, no matter how you paint it. This was a severely bad stoppage. In fact I had Vera winning until he was taken down the last time and mounted. This is the same ref that stopped the Kimbo fight. If they let him ref anymore UFC events, the fighters better be ware!

Lets face it. Maybe Mirgliotta does suck, but how about Vera really isnt that great at HW.
He beat Fabiano Scherner who never won a fight in the UFC.
He beat Justin Eilers whos 1-3? inthe UFC
He beat Frank Mir, who since he return was 1-1.

Exactly. I'm glad he lost so people can STFU about him finally. He was said to be the man to beat fedor etc. He was one of the most overhyped fighters i've heard of. Theres a bandwagon that still makes excuses for him about the tim fight and even this one but oh well. I think He will do much better at LHW. I think he said he wouldn't drop down though.

It really doenst matter about who we are talking, that is fanboystuff.
I mean, imagine he was NOT the man to beat Fedor, would that have changed the legitimacy of the stoppage?
No it wouldnt.

I do not think this was a bad stoppage.....but Dan needs to get some consistency in his calls....In the Kimbo fight kimbo took about 20 elbows and wasn't defending himself...yet he let it go.....
This ref seems to take slack in whatever he does.

I just don't think Dan is a good ref. He's had some bad stoppages. I don't think this was the worst stoppage ever, but i think that Vera could've made it to the second round. If he were meant to lose, then they should have let him get subbed or hurt standing.
