It's funny how people say "Werdum would have won anyway". If that's the case, why not just let the fight continue and let Werdum actually win?

Why stop the fight when Vera was still intelligently defending himself. No doubt what he was doing wasn't the best defense but it was good enough to avoid damage.

Bad stoppage. Werdum could have finished him but the ref barely gave Vera a chance to show if he was really done or to improve position.

Endings like those fucking suck.

The ref is NOT supposed to take the clock into account.

His decision should be based on whats going on in the ring, irrespective how how many seconds are left.

...with that being said, it wasn't the best of stoppages, but there have been far worse.

True. The time left in the round is the least important element here, tho. The fact that Vera, while in a bad position, was taking very little damage and had only been doing so for a very short period of time.

Lets face it. Regardless of the stoppage Vera wasn't far from losing regardless.
