No. Dan is a good ref and he did a good job. Vera was being beaten about the jaw repeatedly. It does not matter AT ALL that there were 10 seconds left.. you can't rely on the ref to save your ass. You need to protect yourself and not get in that situation. Dan did his job.

I am always the first to defend a referee. It's a hard job, and I have a lot of sympathy for them (related partially on my days as a youth sports referee.)
However, there is no excuse for Mirgliotta. None. That call in the Vera fight last night was ridiculous, and it isn't exactly the first time that he's done a terrible job.
Vera is right, if you watch the fight, he's blocking and using his feet to try to push Werdum off the entire time. He was taking very little damage, and there was about 10 seconds left in the round anyways. Besides, if that fight was last weekend, he would have stood them up.
That ref sucks, and might want to contemplate getting retrained and working some amateur/low publicity fights for a couple of years until he actually is able to make proper calls, and he actually develops some good judgement. Mirgliotta does not belong anywhere near a major event.

Im not a big Vera fan, yeah he might not have been defending himself the best, but he wasnt getting damaged much and he wasnt in big trouble. there wasnt much clean shots.
Should of waiting till he saw a few clean unanwsered shots, that way, no thousands threads saying early stoppage.

Guess what? Whining about it isn't going to change the fact that Vera got his ass handed to him. His whining isn't going to change it. Your whining isn't going to change it... and yeah, WAR WERDUM for that ass whipping(which Vera acknowledged was an ass whipping)....

If Brandon Vera wants to live up to his nickname he should tell the truth "Getting mounted and beat up sucks, and I shouldn't blame the ref becasue he's not the one who put me in such a shitty position. But I don't think that way because I have an unrealistically high opinion of myself."

This isn't intelligent defense nor was it that brief. It went on for several seconds and the reason that people are complaining is most likely a combination of being sore at Dan Miragliotta for being a bad ref at EXC CBS and Vera's complaining afterwards influencing viewer perception.
Karo did the same thing and it was blatantly obvious upon rewatching that that it looks more legit after each view and that his complaining was influencing fan perception.

your gif does not do justice, where the time clock ( there was roughly 15 secs left) he for sure could have rode that out many fighters have before. you can take that gif and shove it up your ass!!

It's a shame that Werdum's greatness gets lost in this. He looked phenominal.

He took a barrage of strikes, but he took little or no damage. He was still trying to defend/reposition, and it should not have been stopped. End of story.

What are you talking about?
Who cares if he made the ref look bad?
And he actually said that Werdum did great and went over and raised his hand.
That ref is garbage, end of story. He needs to get his fucking ass kicked. Big fatass mofo.
