Brandon Vera - UNofficial Filipino Bandwagon

Being a Filipino American myself, I am just delighted to see another Filipino American make it to the UFC. There's been a number of MMA fighters with Filipino ancestry that typically fight at the smaller shows Sarmiento, Hawkins, etc...but Vera has been the first one in the UFC.

This thread is not claiming that he will be the next champ, although I hope that will happen some day.

I know he needs to get tested more.
I know he needs more fights under his belt.
I know he is not top 10 yet, although in the UFC, he might as well be.

So save your delusional rants as to assume that I am claiming he is king. That I am not. Just pointing out that one of my own actually made it to the big show, and is on the rise.

I really like Vera's attitude and he is very talented. The future is really bright for him.

d0od, i HATE brandon VERA, but your post is excellent , i wish more people would put support threads together this way.

with that said, Vera has a decent chance at being UFC hw champion, and probley a better chance at being LHW champion...Chucks getting older, and the UFC division isnt getting any stronger. (though only time will tell)

I like Vera and he is definitely one of the best prospects in the UFC. He is still a little bit green but only getting better fight after fight so I wouldn't be suprised if he someday will be the champ.

I was surprised when I found out myself. It's all over the Filipino newspapers. Check the Asian Journal 2 weeks ago. In fact I took like 4 copies when I saw the article.

wikipedia also has him listed as Filipino.

well, in the newest issue of Ultimate Grappling magazine he says his favorite food is Balut, which if you know what that is, he'd have to be Pinoy to like that crap

I'm not phillipino or anything but i support the guy. he's a great fighter and he will do good. it's only a matter of time before he steps up to sylvia.
