Nah, he's the stud we thought he was. What's scary is what he can achieve if he sustains this new found dedication. Also, I see no reason for him to fight GSP again. BJ is a LW and he's the champ, why should he take a fight out of his weight class?

i agree with you here. I do though hope to see him move up in a few years after hopefully keeping his belt and dominating at 155. It would be nice to see that rematch along with numerous other possibilities at 170.

anyone who can get a BB in BJJ in three years and then go on to be the first Americanto win the world title is definately a Phenom. He lost a TKO to Matt Hughes (hey we all get caught) BUT his rib was broken. His loss to GSP was a close decision.

Dude's a prodigy. end thread!

Cuz he cares about being the best ever.

And cuz he wants to make up for the lack of conditioning...and actually finish GSP off this time.

he was the prodigy because it took him 4 years to get a blackbelt in bjj and like two weeks later he was the world champ in the blacbelt division.

4 years from nothing to bjj blackbelt world champ is quite impressive.

after that, he came to the ufc where he KNOCKED PEOPLE OUT. how many other grapplers do you know that transitioned to mma and just began knocking fools out?

if you don't respect penn's skill, you just aren't an mma fan.

Exactly. He was nicknamed the prodigy for his BJJ accomplishments.

He still has a fight with Hughes left that fans want to see. The 3rd fight to end the trilogy.

He definitely wants to avenge the GSP fight. Whether he can or not, that remains to be seen...but no doubt that's a very interesting fight.

If BJ cleans out the LW division, and beats GSP, he'll be considered one of the best ever and #1 pound for pound, much less the prodigy.
