i like what yo have to say. i think that eventually unless fedor steps in with the top guys in terms of current rankings that it is hard to keep him in the top spot.

i point to couture as a perfectexample of why it has to be current. 3 years ago he was retiring after two tough ko losses to lidell in a short span of time and now he is considered widely to be at the top of the class of world hw rankings next to fedor. it has to be determined by current record and most recent fights.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
ROFL, I'm a Fedor basher now because I don't agree that fighting those guys recently should keep you at your top spot? Check all the threads/post I have made, and you will see I have defended Fedor for the longest time. I've made threads defending Fedor when he signed with M1. I also made a thread defending Fedor/Hunt as a credible fight/win for Fedor. I am far from being a Fedor basher, so quit talking out of your ass.

I am a rational/unbiased MMA fan though, and I realize that it would not be fair to keep Fedor there if Tim manages to beat Nog in impressive fashion. That doesn't take anything from Fedor as a talented fighter. I believe he is the best, but you have to keep fighting top guys to keep your top spot. If he fights Monson or Rizzo in April, then he is still #1 because they are solid opponents. He has to face someone though because that HMC fight was a bit much. I know it was for the Japanese fans, so that's why I wasn't like everyone else bitching about it, but that doesn't change the fact that the last credible opponent he faced was Hunt. Fedor needs to step it up a little.

If Tim subs Nog, then Sherdog would seize to exist!

Stepping outside the debate, you have to define what constitutes being a #1 fighter or what rankings are. If you acknowledge that regardless of what happens tomorrow Fedor is still the best fighter than why would you say that the best fighter is no longer "#1"? What does that mean? If the best fighter isnt as active against top comp that means he is no longer #1 but doesnt take away that he is the best?

Bringing up the Zulu and HMC fights as reasons for denying him #1 status is a typical Fedor basher move. So he fought a couple of freakshow fights. Why don't these same haters ever bring up his other '05 matches, like beating a scary-form Crocop a few months prior to the Zulu fight? Don't forget, dude, between Zulu and HMC he effectively embarassed Coleman and beat Hunt and Lindland, two world-class fighters.

Eh, looking at your past posts, you're prob not a Fedor basher, but you sure sound like one in this thread.
