Bas Rutten at age 42 can kill a man with a body kick (fightscience)

Saw it on fightscience recently where the impact of Bas Rutten's kick was measured to be harder than a 35 mhp car crash. The test was done on a specially designed dummy. Bass pushed in the ribcage of the dummy almost 3 inches, whereas on a person it would break the ribcage and severely damage the heart and internal organs if not kill the person.

For one I find this to be amazing that Bas still has that much power and speed at age 42. He probably kicks just as hard as CroCop (just not as flexibly). Now I realize why warpath tapped out to his leg kicks.

Sorry if it's been posted. Did a search and couldn't find anything. If anyone hasn't seen this episode of fightscience I highly recommend it. The show features Tito, Randy, Bas and Dean Lister. It really portrays the mma in a positive aspect. National Geographic is a popular channel so I hope it makes people understand and respect the sport a little more.

did you see the Kosaka and the warpath fights? he literally destroyed them with kicks (more by punches with Kosaka)

I'm not talking about his fights in Japan where he used to wear those boots, fighting with limited rules.

It's Bas not Bass. And yes, he does have incredible body and leg kicks if you watch his old fights.

First off - awesome avatar...dam!

Secondly - Yes, Bas is and still is the man. I read somewhere that his knees are completely jacked. I don't think we'll ever see him fight again which totally sucks.

probably because it was a test dummy that can't defend itself. to quote mr. miyagi, "board no hit back"

Bas has some vicious leg kicks, but I still don't think he can generate the power Cro Cop does off a leg kick.

remember that bas had a chance to set up and hit the dummy at full power.

If you land even one shot at full-power in a real fight (which is rare that your opponent would even give you a chance) it's lights out.

Please everyone just train in a striking art at least once in your lives.
