Icon14 Big PRIDE news: DEADMAN WALKING -Sponsors jumping on board, New TV deal is garaunteed

Many people thought PRIDE was in serious trouble. Dana White even said PRIDE is going out of business (lol, what a tool).

Here's some big PRIDE news straight from Japan:

2006-10-24

■[MMA][PRIDE][TV]"THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK"? SAKAKIBARA Ssaid"We talk to 3 TV station about 2006 Shock wave(newyear eve event)"
SAKAKIBARA DSE president describe

"Now We nagociate to TV stations,We will determine at November 10th"

And,SAKAKIBARA said

"First REAL DEAL sponcer are 3 compannies. But After it,10 companies offer me sponcership"

Looks like the rumors of PRIDE negotiating with NIPPON TV and TVasahi were true. PRIDE's getting back on mainstream prime time for NYE Shockwave in Japan. That is huge news and should end any financial troubles they were having. They will decide by Nov 10 who they choose to go with so obviously they are in a good position and will be back on TV for sure. Hopefully it is a longterm contract and not just for NYE Shockwave.

I also noticed there lack of sponsors for Real Deal. They usually have Mastercard, Yokohama, Schick, XBox360, and other huge companies sponsoring them. I was wondering what happened in Vegas. Now it looks like theyll be getting some big sponsors, let's just hope it's not any xyience bullshit.

something to add:

PRIDE NYE shows in Japan are estimated to be viewed by 12-15 MILLION housholds. It wouldve been a shame if they didnt get back on TV but everything is looking good. Companies pay huge money to advertise during NYE shows and Grand Prix Finals shows.

according to Nobu Sakibara, they will decide after Nov 10, which is coincidentally the day right after BUSHIDO 13 event takes place. So that leads us to believe they already have a TV Deal worked out but can't officially announce it until Bushido13 is over.

Good news. As for the lack of sponsors in the US, the Japanese branches of the same companies in the US are run by different people so the dont cross sponsor. Since it was their first event I dont think too many American companies wanted to sponsor them. Im sure they will have many more for their next show.

That makes sense, considering how downright ridiculous Japanese commericals with MMA commericals are. They can't be aiming for the same audience worldwide.

Compare Rich with Xyience to Cro Cop's razor commercial.
