Big News about the CSAC and drug testing...
From today's update on the Wrestling Observer/Figure4 Weekly website...
"William Douglas of the California State Athletic Commission confirmed on today's members-only Figure Four Daily that their contract has been accepted by the WADA-certified UCLA lab, which is big news for a number of reasons. They will now be in line for testing for human growth hormone and the threshold for failures is going to go down on everything. Marijuana, for example, is going to go from 50 ng/ml down to 15. Gonna be some unhappy fighters in that state very soon. This is a fascinating radio show for MMA fans as Douglas gives a detailed look at exactly how drug testing works, why claims of false positives and "CSAC screw-ups" are usually total BS, and much more."

Actual news gets no views?
I guarantee people are going to be talking about this in a few months once more guys start failing due to stricter cut-offs. The HGH testing could potentially be huge too.

Thanks for posting man. I really don't know how I feel about this. I guess it there should either be zero tolerance or total tolerance. So, we'll get more hot tests, but it should even out the playing field in the long run. I'm very curious about the HGH tests

Oh boy...
This is only going to fuel the flames of discontent with the Diaz and Sherk fans who claim that their tests are tainted and that weed shouldn't be a banned substance.
The fact that a WADA-certified lab has signed on is HUGE. No longer can people claim false positives unless something goes DRASTICALLY wrong. Even then, the back up "B" sample is sent to a second WADA-certified lab in Montreal (Laboratoaire de Controle du Dopage). When the samples are screened and results are given, they are not shared and are instead sent to the CSAC themselves.
Talk about a big window for transparency. It's great news.

Interesting--I will be interested to see what becomes with the HGH testing.
The major sports haven't even pretended really to want to test for that.
On a different though related note, here was a suggestion that I had for CSAC and other commissions.

CSAC is such a bunch of fuckheads.
Just stop holding fights there altogether imo. Vegas is TOO CLOSE anyway. Anyone from Cali that REALLY wants to see a fight should make the drive.
Get more shows in the midwest instead. Fan base there is slowly growing and when those guys become hardcore MMA will jump to the next level.

You can offer a unique perspective on this, Jason. Have you ever had any problem with test failures in the past, with regards to marijuana? Did you think you might have been "close" to failing at any point? Thus, will a smaller allowable amount affect you in the future?
