Some people have bought into what MMA has become and appreciate what Condit did on Saturday, others are frustrated by this and want fighters to do their best to decide the fight without the judges. The guys who brought this sport to prominence (Chuck, Wand, Fedor, Anderson Silva, CroCop, Rampage, Forrest vs. Bonnar, etc.) came from a different era, and didn't take the play it safe and win by decision approach, and that is why the sport is where it is now."

I decided to post this because there are many fans who are upset by the way the fight went/was scored and many others who take the elitist stance as if there is nothong ever that can be improved in the rules/scoring system

That's true.
The guys who made this sport fought to win.
Now these new guys fight for points.

I'm not sure why Condit should have to fight Diaz on Diaz's terms.

Condit won under every scoring system aside from 'the unified rules of stockton', which deducts points if you're unwilling to trade face punches

Furthermore, if there had been 10 more rounds, it was Diaz who was slowing down from the relentless leg kicks and it was Condit who was gaining momentum as the fight progressed. so the old 'Diaz didnt lose he just ran out of time!!!' adage doesn't work here either

It falls down because Condit landed some heavy strikes, heavier than anything Diaz landed, and he also threw anything heavier than Diaz threw. Those flying knees and spinning elbows were meant to hurt Diaz, you can't pretend it was point fighting.
