arona vs chuck

i just got done seeing critical countdown 2005 for the first time.. yeah i know im pretty far behind. but in arona's fight with sakuraba they talked about how unusual it is that arona keeps his chin up in the air and that if he fought a counter puncher he would be in big trouble doing that. so having said that. do you think that chuck would be able to knock arona out on his feet since chuck is a counter puncher and has one of the most one hit knockout power in the lhw division. yeah i know guys like shogun and wanderlei have a hell of a lot of power behind their punches but most of their knockouts or tkos come from a flurry of punches rather than just that one big shot. chuck always looks for the one big punch. so do you think that chuck liddell would be able to knock arona out standing up?

Depends on if he catches him. Obviously you can say he could knock him out. You can say that about just about any great striker. Sure he could knock Arona out, but Arona could just as well gut out a decision out of Chuck.

He could, yes. But he could also lose to Arona. I have Liddell at #2 or #3 in the world at LHW (Silva and possibly Rua ahead of him). Arona is right around Chuck's calibre.

But to answer your q again, yes I think he COULD knock out Arona, but I doubt he would and either fighter could win the fight on any given night.

I think this fight would really be interesting...I wonder if Arona could keep chuck down...

Chuck always will have a punchers chance but Arona's standup isn't too shabby as well. Of course Arona has a better ground game but he will still have a hard time getting Chuck down. Arona wouldn't have a problem standing with him as he did against Vanderleir and even Quinton Jackson who he was beating until he got power bombed.

Arona would maul Liddel in a cage. He would try so hard to get the take down and gas Chuck trying to defend it or getting back up

Arona's power would overwhelm Chuck, even if he could regain his footing after multiple takedown attempts, Arona's stand-up is no joke either.

Arona is a pitbull when it comes to takedowns. Chuck has awesome takedown defense but Arona is definitely not a slouch standing either. I do see Chuck taking trying to take advantage of Arona's tendency of sticking out his chin while standing.

its a well known fact that aronas standup is not very good. he throws loopy punches and keeps his chin way up.
