I am a huge Arona fan who has watched and loved all his fights.

Arona is actually an excellent match-up for Hendo and Rampage. Not saying he'd always win but it's nearly always going to be a good fight.

His difficulties would be with Lyoto, Wanderlei, and Sokoudjou (if signed). Again, not that he'd necessarily always lose (I think he'd beat Wanderlei more often than not) but these are difficult match-ups.

Arona has the potential to win the belt but then I'd fear he'd quickly lose it to some striker. Arona is absolutely in the top few out there but is not likely to have a long run of wins against top competitors.

Possible issues are recent time off, recent illness, whether he has kept pace with the improvement of other fighters, whether he truly has not been on the juice (something I found surprising but that I hope he is being truthful about).

I'm not so sure about him not being champion. He's already proven he can beat Wandy. Yeah, Shogun and Rampage both beat him but I give him a real chance against both of these guys if they ever fight again. The truth of the matter is, with the type of style he has, Arona is a tough match for pretty much anyone.

I would love to see him in the UFC. Very curious to see how he would do vs Liddell. Would also like to see him get another crack at Rampage as he was getting the better of him prior to the slam.

Arona is just as dangerous as anyone else. Hey, this is MMA .... on any given unforseen strike a new champion is born.
