It makes me sick...
I was just watching ESPN and these fuckers had a half-hour show on competetive eating. It really tweaks a nerve when I realize the lack of respect the American Sports media has for MMA. Eventually, ESPN and other big sports media outlets will have to start convering MMA on some level, may it be a talk show, actual events, who knows. I was wondering what you all have to say on who do you think will first cover mma on a large format, and how do you think whould be the best way to open the market. The other thing is how would they cover the organizations, would it be just focused on individual fighters instead of organizations?
I think what needs to happen is a big money once a week hour long show focusing on the sport of MMA, all aspects, on a major sports network. Not some soft stupid reality show where they all live in the house and bitch at each other, but a show that is much more worldly. Kind of likethe show title would be "What MMA is like in Croatia, to Brazil, to JApan, to Canada ,to fucking Greenland, who knows". Focus on different gyms in each place, then look at there fighters, styles, and fight history.
This in my mind would establish a base to at least have a show with a format that would work to benefit MMA. That way people "non'MMA'ers" would at least have a clue about all the different fighters they are going to see on a big show. That would make the market bigger so it would be worthwhile for the network.
Kind of on a Dennis Miller type rant on this so if I am confusing I apologize.
