Sakurai vs Penn
now im not one to make threads that often, and even so, they're not about dream match-ups, but this is my ULTIMATE dream matchup, and its been bugging me as to who would win this fight. I believe BJ has the standup advantage, not a huge advantage however. I also believe Mach has the ground advantage, but thats TOO close to call.
Thoughts?...i just pray this fight happens one day

Sakurai would not be able to handle Penn IMO.
Sakurai can't even make 155 so this would have to be at a catch weight or at 170.
Sakurai would have the edge on the feet IMO, but Penn can handle him no doubt. Plus once it got to the ground, which it would, Penn would DOMINATE.

Penn dominating Sakurai on the ground? HA! It's almost a stalemate imo. Sure, Penn has the BJJ background and all, but Mach finished 2nd in ADCC in the Absolute weight division. And thats something i dont think BJ can achieve (or can he...?). The reason why i think Penn is at an advantage on the feet, is because what he did on the feet to GSP. Georges had the reach advantage and Penn got inside and landed more shot. Against Mach, Penn would have the reach advantage, so on the feet, Penn could have the advantage.

I would LOVE to see this matchup. Mach would have the long distance advantage with his vicious kicks, but I think Penn would do better in the clinch.
I'm sure Penn has the better wrestling TDs, but I think Mach may have the better clinch takedowns with his judo.
I don't see either subbing the other.

You are way off here man Sakurai has a slight edge on the feet because of his kicks, but Penn would kill sakuarai on the ground. When did he win that ADCC match? 1999 it was I believe. What has he done in MMA since then?

It's not a match, it's a tournament. It's a tournament against the best no-gi grapplers in the world, almost all of whom were bigger than him.
When did Penn win the Mundials again?
