It's not like he just showed up suddenly, he's been known as a top welterweight for a while. He's a bit undersized at 170, but the guy is simply amazing.

Chuck KOd Bablua with ease, but Shogun got schooled by Babalu lol.

I don't understand how it's Pride nuthugging when Aoki is a Shooto fighter first and foremost.

He's not the best WW in the world right now, but he's what like 23 years old. Give him time and he will be. The guy improves every time.

As it stands I think Aoki is top 6. I think with his skill level right now he could be top 3 or 4 with a shot at even higher if everything goes his way in the fights. He's still very young and should he continue to get better he could be #1 but we will never know since the majority of top ten in WW are from the UFC and Aoki fights in Shooto (possibly Pride again)
