Aoki vs. Penn

I don't understand why so many people are excited to see this matchup. I happened to catch an Aoki fight last night and was not impressed. So I went and found a few more of his fights and it confirmed what I gathered from watching the first fight. BJ would destroy Aoki. His standup is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Aoki's. This fight would probably not even make it to the ground. And if it did I don't think that Aoki would be able to pull off a sub especially in the five minute rounds that it seems everyone will go to. I see absolutely no way for Aoki to win this fight. His JJ may be better than BJ's but it is in no way good enough to sub him or to get a decision.

Agree. Penn would own him. A lot of sherdoggers must smoke crack.

I agree, i'd still like to see the fight though.

BJ's takedown defense is beyond amazing though, but Aoki is a good judoka. So who knows, I just doubt he'd have the time to pull off a sub, considering it's BJ Penn afterall.

BJ is better in every aspect of MMA. Aoki is about 5 years behind Penn.

I think people want to just see the grappling aspect of the fight which is obviously where it would be closer. But if that is all you want to see then you should be emailing the ADCC.

Agreed, the Abu Dhabi would be a better place to showcase this fact.

Aoki has a couple HL reel subs, but is mostly unproven against top competition. Aoki will not sub Penn, and will get picked apart on his feet and probably (T)KO'd

Yep it is all about the grappling in this match. I would love to see the ADCC battle between these two, but can Aoki pull off the gogo with BJ's fists pounding his head. I think this is a great match up.

Yeah, and if you want to see two good strikers go watch K-1, and if you want to see a big show go watch WWE, and if you want ring girls go stripclubbin', and if you want to see stomps go streetfighting
