Anyone who has played any EA Sports Fight Nights...
You would know how badass of an MMA game EA Sports could make.
The way they use the joysticks for all striking was a breakthrough in gaming when the first Fight Night came out, now they have made it even better in Round 3.
But anyway, anyone who has played it would know that the main buttons (X, Circle, Sqaure, Triangle for PS2) pretty much do jack shit in the game and EA could use these as clinch, takedown, grappling, etc buttons.
I think that anyone interested in a new MMA video game should e-mail EA Sports with suggestions. They have just recently started branching off into more "fringe" sports (i.e College Baseball, Arena Football, Rugby) and I think with MMA taking off as big as it is, it would be the best time to develop a new *GOOD* game for MMA. Unlike the previous MMA games released.
I am e-mailing their support staff right now, and weather you care about a game or not, you should too, it would only further the globalization and mainstream popularity of MMA not only in the US but around the world also. If anyone else wants to e-mail them you can contact them through this address...

I know it'd be a while off, but think of it, the hardest problem with the old MMA games was coming up with enough buttons to do the things you need to do, since there is so many different things you can do in MMA over boxing. But if you can compact all the striking into a joystick and maybe a button (to alternate between punches and kicks) then you leave every other one open to reign free will with whatever MMA moves they could incorporate into the game.

up, right, up, X, L, R, X, down = flying armbar!
it would be really tough to create an mma game.. but i'm sure if there was enough of an audience ($$$) someone would make one.

You know what? I LOVE FN series....those are some real great game in both
entertain and realism department BUT creating a boxing game and MMA game would be
very diffrent due to positions, submission..and so on.
IMO developers like AKI or Konami would do better

LOL It will be a way to get this wastelanded, but your a button masher eh? I've tried both and the Total Punch Control is the way to go. Haymakers are sick in the game and you can't do 'em with the buttons. It's crazy how much better me and my friends are with joysticks that the buttons.

It depends. I enjoy the realism that sports games offer and I think in the realism aspect of sports games, EA Sports is head and shoulder above the rest. AKI or Konami would be more of an arcade like feel, which some, including you, may like, but to each his own.
I just think they shouldnt make another flop BS game like the 3 previous (the two UFC's and the Pride all were rotten) and this time take it as a serious game and I think EA would be the best fit for that.
All that being said, the problem would be which one, Pride or UFC. If it was a UFC licensed game, it would'nt be big in Japan, probably their biggest MMA market. But if they had PrideFC licensing, then it wouldnt be to big in the US, most likely their 2nd biggest MMA game market. And I'm sure neither would agree to share licensing rights of a game.
