So to answer your question, Dana announced it before the fight was actually signed. Then Dana and Sakibara couldn't come to terms so now the fight is off.

Some people are claiming that Sakibara is a coward, some say Dana was dumb to make the announcement before it was inked.

Pretending Silva doesn't exist is bad for the sport. Dana has to accept that the popularity of Pride will affect the popularity of MMA and therefore the UFC as well. There are too many good fighters for one organization alone.
