The players union has exclusivity for the entire stables to work out deals with game developers of their choosing.

In most cases and in recent history they work with several different developers, only recently was Madden able to acquire exclusive developing rights from the NFLPA.

As far as the athletes names combined with their looks being used in games after their retired I dont know.

I'm assuming that after a player retires from the league and is no longer an active athlete in the union they have the right to sell their likeness to other games like NFL Blitz and such.

I dont know the answer to that question, but I do know that whatever rights deals they do have were collectively bargained by their players associations.

UFC should at least make it non-exclusive upon the release of the guys contract.
Yeah, that article is vague. The guy makes no mention of it being a life-time contract, which leads me to believe it is. However, if a certain fighter leaves the UFC and becomes a star in another organization, I doubt he'd be bound to this life-time exclusive agreement. I mean, the courts would deem it unreasonable since he's not apart of the UFC anymore at that point.

Or maybe not even an org but just a video game company decides to make some wild fighting game, and these guys can't be part of it. The UFC doesn't need to be asking for exclusivity.
Yup.

If these guys wanna be monkeys for the circus, go ahead. They better HOPE MMA doesn't blo up like they predict or they're gonna be sitting around, forever making a couple thousand a year, meanwhile 5 guys at the top will be making even a BIGGER FORTUNE off them, the they are now.

Merchandising is a BILLION dollar industry, and these guys will be getting .0001% of the profit.

If that's what these fighters want, let em have it.

I wonder how many guys in the UFC can AFFORD the cars Dana has?

+1. Dana's position of power has significantly lowered since Fitch has shown he can just go straight to Lorenzo when it comes to business.

Stick to promoting, Dana, you suck at the contract game.
