Am i the only one who thinks that Forrest's standup is vastly overrated

Forrest lands a bunch of nice looking combos that do nothing. Watch that fight again closely Forrest hits Tito in the arms all night. I thought Tito's standup was as good as forrests in the first and third round. The best shot of the fight was thrown by Tito in the third. 29-27 was a beautiful score. I was a little iffy about the decision until i watched the fight again and the judge who scored the fight 29-27 earned his money last night. THat's exactly how i scored it when i rewatched it. Forrest never lands anything that even closely puts tito in any trouble. 10-8 first round for tito watch it again and pay close attention to the audio. Tito landed sick shots from the top. It sounded like a sledgehammer hitting steel. The most brutal gnp ive seen Tito use since Shamrock, and that first round was comparable to some of the rounds in Tito Shamrock.

yeah i mean he is such a likable guy and don't even get me started on how stephan bonner is the biggest piece of crap on the planet. His commentary is as bad as his fighting. I mean if u watch that fight again very closely there is no way u can give it to forrest his punches look pretty, but they are hitting arm every time tito lands more shots

I thought Tito got the better of the stand up as well. His left jab was mad stiff and accurate, and when he followed with his straight right, it connected alot. Forrest was pretty wild with his punches, but a couple did get Tito's attention, but I thought Tito took them well. I had it 29-28 Ortiz, but I can see the first round being a 10-8 round with just the complete domination, opening a cut, and overall nasty ground and pound. Great fight, wish it went 5.

Things always look different on TV then they do in person. I saw the fight last night, and Forrest was stunning Tito with most of those jabs. I think when you're able to hear how hard these guys are hitting each other it puts it all into perspective. By the way, I was dissappointed in how lack luster Tito's stand up was. I know he's all about the gnp but he looked very one sided last night.

Forrest brings his warrior's heart to the game and he will get better. I thought it was a decent showing by Forrest. Once he got the jitters out (which took painfully too long) he did better but still didn't bring it like he could have if he started better. It was a great fight to watch and had me frealing out the whole way through. I haven't been pulled into a fight that way in a while.

[quote=PutUpYourDukes] By the way, I was dissappointed in how lack luster Tito's stand up was.

You need to rewatch the fight. Tito's punches were very clean. He was also very patient and did not get wreckless. He was sticking his jab right into Forrest face everytime. If there were compubox numbers on this, it probably wouldve shown Tito throwing alot less punches than Forrest, but alot more landed. Forest threw alot of punches, but his hit percentage wouldve been in the teens. Tito's stand up has actually improved since his last fights.
