People need to grow up, this crap makes these forums seem really ridiculous, and I think everyone, no matter how educated in the sport, tend to get caught up in them.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be threads about who's a good matchup for who, or why people think so and so would handle so and so. And certainly I'm nobody and have no specific right to tell people what they can and can't talk about. But debating a silly website ranking system just seems stupid.

How many times do people want to post their same theories of why Wand will beat Chuck, or Chuck will beat Shogun? I'm seriously starting to think people feel like if they say it enough times it's going to be true.

When the best of the best go at it, I don't think you can even tell who is *really* better unless they have multiple fights against each other. After a single fight, the losing camp can easily come up with reasons why it might be different in a rematch, and you know what, most of the time they're right.

Tiger Woods didn't win every tournament this year. Roger Federer still lost 5 matches. Sometimes people have a bad day, sometimes the opposition gets lucky. And even in a case like Couture and Liddell, can we say Liddell is definitely the greater fighter, or would the reality maybe just be that Chucks style makes for a bad matchup for Randy?

The point is, the best are the best for a reason, and they all deserve considerably more respect then I see them get on the boards.

Except maybe for Tim Sylviaterrible.

yeah. agreed.

but rankings have their place...sometimes they can be used to introduce people to who may be "the best" fighters.

its like a star system in some respects...

but to argue about them so much is completely stupid.

I saw something on a thread were they took your victories and they ranked them and what not an added up everyones points. It wasnt a bad idea its not to show whos best but whos kinda on top if u understand what im saying. It worked out well, but people on Sherdog would bitch and moan because it put Cro Cop > Fedor.
