One thing i was always curious about is how big was BJ's BJJ accomplishments... were the opponents he defeated of 'elite' caliber?

Also not sure of what his strict BJJ record is, overall and as black belt.

great post...I remember how Gomi was COMPLETELY dismantled, first on the feet, and then on the ground...truly masterful of BJ...

...and to the haters claiming "duh, he lost 3 of his last 4, dur dur" well, the guy that KTFO'd your beloved Iceman, one Mr. Rampage Jackson, had lost (brutally) three times, was given a decision victory against Ninja (that even Rampage thought should have gone the other way), and was all but written off as a legitimate contender...VERY under-rated

...and I bet the BJ Penn haters are Hughes Huggers that thought Country Breakfast dominated all 3 rounds of their rematch...

Great overall post. I am a huge BJ Penn fan, but even I have to call BS on this one part. Machida domintated that fight. There was nothing razon-thin about it. Penn was never in serious trouble, but he definitely lost.

Everyone knows BJ has talent, but he's just become unpredictable lately. He's lost fights he should've won because of stupid shit like cardio not being up to level with everyone else.

Gomi has been defeated by people with less BJJ credentials than Penn. Penn would destroy Gomi in pieces if they fought again...
