Classy post Jeff.
I want to add something here too though.
It seems at times that everyone forgets about the rest of the world. I know a LOT of money and help has been sent to help the victims of hurricane Katrina (god bless them) and even the Tsunami victims were given a lot of help.
But this an international forum, America is one of the most blessed countries in the world and even their poor and needy receive more help than anywhere else in the world.
Every life has equal value.
It'd be nice to see some interest or help given to those innocent dying and suffering for years now in Iraq after having their country ravaged because politicians want to fight over oil.
At least the people of the U.S or Canada have seen some brighter days, these other people haven't.
If your (meaning anybody) attitude is who cares about foreigners, than who cares about you, you're not doing anyone any good and in the eyes of God (many don't care but I'm religious) we're all equal so to help a group that gets tons of attention and to ignore others who are dying everyday is cruel.
It is a lot easier to live in a small shelter and eat at a soup kitchen than it is to live on the streets under gun fire while starving.
U.S.A, Canada and other nations are the land of opportunity, many people dont cease them, some were born into terrible circumstances.
What about these countries that have residents who never had a chance. Or the good hard working educated people who are screwed over by political factors. There are tons of PhD students, masters students and what not in Russia, Iraq etc who work harder than a lot of lazy north americans, yet they don't make nearly as much at their jobs as these people do on welfare.
That is an eye opener.
Please consider them aswell.
