Very Impressed By Machida's Performance
I am incredibly disgusted at all the comparisons and trash-talking on here about Machida running ala Kalib Starnes. I mean, are you guys MMA fans, or just watching it because it's the latest fad? Machida/Ortiz was a much superior fight than one of those sloppy punch-fests that you see at the independent MMA events.
I had a great time watching Machida fight last night, it was such a tactical stand-up chess game Machida was playing with Tito. He stood outside, picked his shots very carefully, threw a lot of fakes, got Tito frustrated to the point of aggressiveness, and capitalized on it.
Not to mention, the third round was probably the most exciting round of the whole night. Machida almost TKO's Tito with a liver shot, Tito catches Machida in a tight triangle transitioned to an armbar, Machida gets out of it. WOW.
I'd love to see Machida against a Liddell, Silva, or Jardine to see how well his strategic striking style would fare against an aggressive striker like Wanderlei, or counter-strikers like Liddell and Jardine.
Come on guys, put the beer cans aside and start studying the sport, it's more than just a fad.

Same here.
He's going to be a huge problem for any future opponent.

I thought other then a minute or two, the fight was great. I was surprised when I logged on today to see all the Machida hate. Frankly it was Tito that was doing nothing (sans the submission attempt) the whole fight.

He finished Sokoudjou in two rounds, and that's when Sokoudjou was a top 6 LHW after KO'ing Arona and Lil Nog.

Yet he couldn't finish Tito, Hoger, and Nakamura, who aren't even top 10. What's your point?

With all the flak Starnes got for evading and trying to counter punch, I'm surprised there aren't more people criticizing Machida's performance.
