5/1 Jordan Breen Live Chat - LIVE HOT MMA TALK, NOW. LET'S ROCK, MMA HEADS.
MMA heads,
Because I was screwed out of doing a radio show yesterday, there was some call for me to do another live chat thread.
So, come on in and let's talk engage in grown MMA discussion.
As always, I'll stick around and keep the live chat going as long as people are in here talking and keeping things exciting. (Within reason, of course. I don't want to miss Sengoku)
Also, if I'm pleased with the discussion, I may launch some impromptu contests for some Sherdog Store swag.
Let's rock.

In addition to the above, who do you think are some of the best prospects to watch coming out of the New England MMA scene?

I'm thinking the Korean zombie will be all Dawn of the Dead style and chase Kanehara down, rather than letting him work on the outside, Night of the Living dead style.

I wouldn't invest in Mann. I do think Hioki is still apt to tard out, and that's a theme to watch for going forward, but Mann doesn't offer enough. He's half Hioki's size, despite his Thai boxing background he'll probably be outstruck, and the minute that hits the ground, he'll get tapped. That's no diss to him, Hioki is just a bad style match-up for him.
Leo Santos is an interesting underdog. Omigawa may also be worth investment, though I'm a bit iffy on him given the rules: for him to "fight smart", he'll have to take Phan down from the clinch and work his top game. However, Sengoku employ traditional Japanese MMA judges who are inclined toward 10-10 rounds. You really have to go out and win the rounds. I don't know if Omigawa can do real pounding in Phan's guard, and I don't know that he can pass really effectively like he did against Davis. I could see him getting tied up in guard a lot, and with Phan having some success on the feet, Phan could win a 30-29 decision or something of that ilk.
