2003 Pride Mw Gp (a preview into the past, present, and future)

For all you newbies and are still like whoa !! The UFC vs PRIDE, Liddell vs Silva. I want to HIGHLY RECOMMEND you buy or borrow the PRIDE 2003 MW GP. This is such a past, present, and future. A tale of 3 MW fighters, we almost had Chuck vs Silva back in 2003 but it got cock blocked in the 2nd round by Rampage. Chuck went back to the drawing board and ended up winning the UFC LHW belt after this, Silva had his glory and won the tournament and still has the PRIDE MW crown this very day. Both Liddel and Wandy fought on the same card and both won that night.
This dvd was a glimpse into how this UFC vs PRIDE rivalry began, how the UFC made their challenge and ended up losing to PRIDE, although Chuck did very well in the 1st round. It became UFC vs PRIDE, which not only Chuck, but Ricco Rodriguez losing to Noguiera.

Then it may be a glimpse into the future because UFC vs PRIDE is brewing again. Champ vs Champ. And maybe even Sylvia may eventually get his crack at the TRUE HW Champ, Fedor.

I predict, we will end up with 2 unified champs, both Silva and Fedor of PRIDE.

I think watching this DVD will pump up wanting to see this PRIDE vs UFC, Chuck vs Wandy rivalry so bad.

I like how pride marketed the hell out of Chuck and Danas balding head was all over the place, he never STFu.

yet 2006 UFC does not even mention Wandy is Champ or even acknowledge Sakakibara.

This tourney also resulted in UFC President Dana White losing his bet for $250,000 which is talked about on the dvd, that Liddell was going to win the tournament and take the PRIDE GP belt back home to the U.S. back to the UFC. There's even a clip of Dana predicting Liddell will win the GP at the press conference.

NEVER HAPPENED OF COURSE !! PRIDE RULES.

did anyone read what Wandy said on the PRIDE website?

he says:

On July 8th, Wanderlei Silva, the PRIDE Middleweight Champion, made a surprise appearance at America's largest caged mixed martial arts event, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, surprising the entire mixed martial arts world.

After watching the UFC event, Silva, along with Dream Stage Entertainment president Nobuyuki Sakakibara, visited the location where PRIDE will make their American debut, the Thomas & Mack Center. The Thomas & Mack Center is located near Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport and is a large venue used for professional sporting events, such as pro-boxing, basketball and ice hockey.
Additionally, Silva sent a message to the PRIDE fans following his tour of the venue.

To the PRIDE fans,

"Today, I stepped in the octagon and desire to fight grew even stronger. In November, I want to take out Chuck Liddell in November and become the first double PRIDE and UFC Champion in history. I hope the fans will continue to support me because I am going to prove that PRIDE is number one.
I visited the location where PRIDE will hold and event in October, the Thomas & Mack Center, along with Mr. Sakakibara, the president of Dream Stage Entertainment. I tremble with excitement when I think about a new era in PRIDE beginning here! This will definitely be a new challenge for me and I want as many people as possible in America to know how great PRIDE is.
I've heard that the wind is blowing against PRIDE but I want everyone to relax. As long as Wanderlei Silva is here, PRIDE will definitely be fine. I will absolutely protect it."

i think silva's going to have a really tough time with chuck. my money's on chuck for that fight.

but i agree that fedor would wreck any one of the ufc hw's. i really, really hope he fights tim in the near future. sylvia's constantly talking about how fedor is way smaller than him and he would have no problem ko'ing fedor. i'd love to see fedor prove him wrong. somebody needs to prove to tim that he's not as good as he thinks he is.
