He submitted Brock Lesnar (after a near death experience), then he must be the best!

I can't believe the UFC is giving him a title shot at Nogueira! WTF?

The guy that took Tims arm with him in 50s... You're the fucking dumbass. In his prime Mir can make a case.

He wins as large a percentage of his fights by submission as almost anyone, so I'd say he's pretty effective. Granted, his competition hasn't been as good as some guys, but his sub game is pretty damn good. He's got a stronger grip than anyone on his subs. His technical jj is excellent, though not quite at the level of the very top guys. His guard is always dangerous.

Anyway, he's my favorite fighter so I had to stick up for him a bit. Honestly I don't think he's the "most effective submission-inclined fighter in the UFC". I think he's somewhat in the conversation, but I couldn't put him at the top. Still, you're tone makes it sound like the guy has no sub game at all, thus my defense of him.

How many other UFC guys have you seen break an arm in their fight?

I voted for Nog, but Mir is a favorite of mine and he's no joke on the ground.

How come after every poll there is a thread critisizing the results? I mean seriously, 10%? Who cares?

I didn't vote for him but 1 in 10 fans is a "just bleed guy" that loves when people get there arms snapped so maybe that's why.
