Sherdog S-L-O-W

Sherdog.net has been running really, really slow for me. It takes at least 5 to 10 minutes for each page to load. I first noticed it last Sunday and it hasnt changed. I also use two different computers in two different locations (my home computer and work computer) with two different internet browsers (firefox and IE) and both are having the same problem.

Is this something Sherdog is aware of or is it me?

Probably due to all the ads and scripts running on every single Sherdog page. Try using an ad-blocker of some kind.

"Congratulations, you have won a free Ipod" makes my computer freeze. Other than that, normal ads are fine.

change your theme to nightvision...it should speed up things

Wow, you were right. I cant believe I went from each page taking 5 minutes to load to 2 seconds just by changing from the Moab to Nightvision.

There are a couple more things you can do:

1. Get FireFox with NoScript and set it to disable all scripts on the site. This speeds up access considerably.
2. Go to your User CP settings, Options then choose your message length, old thread cutback and disable images/avatars/sigs. Not a significant increase and hey I like having avatars but it's an option.
