haha - totally agree. thing is, Google has shown everyone that you can give all sorts of shit away and support it with ads. I'm glad the advertisers are willing to pay money so I can use sites and services like Sherdog, NYTimes, hotmail, facebook, Flickr, etc. Even the UFC is going that route by providing ad-supported events on Spike. Folks that use timeshifting, adblock and filters are ahead of the game, but in the end I'd rather tolerate the annoying ads than pay for the content.
I agree the dropdown ads that cover the screen and are nearly impossible to avoid are irritating as shit though. Eventually these companies will realize there's actually a downside to annoying potential customers.
