Linking to other sites??

Can I post a link to a chess website in my sig, or as my av?

I have very poor computer knowledge but they have these neat little code things that result in little pictures that are links to the website. I was hoping I could put one in my sig or as my av. But when I tried to do it, it came out as a whole bunch of computer gibberish and not the little banner/pic thing.

So what gives? I really only visit two web sites (aside from the porn of course) . . . chess.com and sherdog.net

You are allowed to put the text in your sig but the forum is not set up to allow you to have links or images in your sig
