Duplicate Threads.

First, I want to emphasize this thread is intended as constructive criticism.

Having experience moderating forums with high traffic and being new to this one, here is an observation and suggestion intended to improve the quality of this forum.

Being a very high volume forum, especially with the buzz surrounding UFC61, I notice a lot of the volume is unnecessary. I notice there are many duplicate threads, a good example is a recent thread about Wanderlei Silva signing a three fight contract with the UFC. The problem is perpetual. This duplicate thread is cycled with new a thread after it is quickly knocked off the first page instead of being merged with a similar topic. We end up with a chat-room not a message board.

My recommendation to the moderators is to end the cycle of duplicate threads by posting a bold sticky stating all duplicate topics will be merged and anyone continually posting duplicate topics or thread that lack an original coherent subject will be stunned.

Reducing duplicate threads not only reduces clutter and makes threads much easier to follow; it consolidates a topic in a single thread which tends to compel members to post more original ideas, thereby promoting a more invigorating discussion.

BTW: A lot of the duplicate threads are flame bates and should be removed entirely.
