What's the best way to soften up a new gi??

Hi, from your experiences, what is the best way to soften up a gi? Every time i wash it and hang dry it, it becomes hard like a piece of cardboard. Well not that hard, but hard! Is there any way of softening it up besides using it over time?

Thanks!

Tried fabric softener? I think thats what its used for. Well that, and you'll smell like flowers so the guys will be lined up to grapple with you.

Just don't hang dry it...put it in the dryer on medium-low heat and it'll soften it just fine...

I thought the medium low heat would cause it to shrink?

Try putting it into the dryer for a couple of minutes on low heat. Or you can just get a Vulcan gi and never have to worry about it again.
