What is the best head gear for a reasonable price
I've been looking around for head gear, I've found a few good things. But, I'd like some other peoples opinion. Does anyone have a titan head gear? I'm looking in the $50 and under range. Any ideas are welcome. Also, Leather with Suede lining is what I'd really like. None of the synthetic stuff though.
Thank you very much,
Dan

Chin guard on head gear?
Also, if I'm not using it for competition just sparring should I get head gear with chin protector?

It really depends on the type of sparring you're interested in, imo. If you're only going to do light/medium sparring with 16 ounce gloves(in other words, you're not trying to throw haymakers the entire time), then a chin protector isn't really necessary, but once again, that's just my opinion. Title has a 'traditional' headgear that is $50 is made of all leather and is lined on the inside with suede. I don't personally own the headgear, but we have a few Title headgear at our gym and they're solid. Another option is the Everlast amateur competition headgear, also for $50, and I've used these before. I personally don't like headgear that have cheekpads because my peripheral vision is hindered to much for my liking, and these have the option of an open face. Of course, the cheekpads will give you better protection, so it's all about preference. These are quality boxing headgear, if a bit bulky (as most headgear is I guess). Hope that helps.

You could try KO fightgear:
http://www.kofightgear.com/headgear.htm
I looks like it meets all of your criteria: $50, all leather/suede, and full cheek/chin protection for sparring.
I have never tried it, but everything they sell seems to get good reviews here in G&E. There is post about this item in the reviews section: KOFighgear Headgear Review with Pics!
Personally, I use a TOP-TEN helmet, but they are closer to $100 and made of a rubber like material; pretty much the complete opposite of what you want (I posted a review if you are curious: Review: Top-Ten Training Headgear (Pics)).
[FYI, I am not affiliated with TOP-TEN nor any distributor and have nothing to do with the sales pitches that seem to be popping up in all the threads where I mention this brand.]

Turbolover-
I've been a black belt for over 2 decades and have trained in a number of arts & styles. I came across Top Ten products a couple years ago and am now affiliated with a company that sells it in North America. I truly believe it is the best equipment available for safty durability and value. The headguard provides excellent protection, is made of a special rubber (so it doesn't absorb sweat, blood or other fluids as you train) called bayflex, and will never wear out or loose it's protective qualities. So you may pay a lot for it but you only pay 1 time. The boxing gloves, karate gloves and fight kicks are all of the same excellent quality. You can find the products at:
www.totiro-usa.com
I know that sounds/is a real "pitch" but I truly believe in the product. Check out the forums and you will see that many people agree. I only use Top Ten Headguards and gloves when I fight.

Buy.com or Dickssportinggoods has the Everlast headgear at $40+shipping, and if you use GoogleCheckout you'll get another $10 off. I just ordered a pair.

Aries head gear
I got ordered Arie's head gear... It is surprisingly thin. I haven't sparred with it yet. I will this Saturday (possibly before) though. I'll let you know how it turns out...
Thanks for everyone else's comments. I'd still like to know if anyone has a titan head gear...
Thank you very much,
-Dan

Aries is garbage IMO. I haven't tried the Titan but they look pretty solid and they're made by fight gear I believe.

i've been using the titan competition headgear for about 6 months now and am happy with it. not bad for $40. The only complaint i have with it was that the first few times i wore it, my face was all black because they dyed the interior suede.
