Icon4 Weights of muay thai gloves...?

Hello all... quick question about standard weights for gloves...

when I did just straight up Golden Gloves boxing... 16oz was the minimum, as that was regulation weight for all fights and if you were really seriouse about training, you got the 20oz and for the fight would wear 16s.. as far as I know anyway..... only the lower weight classes used anything lighter than 16s..

is it the same in muay thai..? I was thinking about getting some Windy gloves but when I looked they only came in 8oz and 10oz weights... is that normal..? that doesn't sound like alot of padding... I would think if I was sparring in 10oz gloves I would break some guys face or something.. I dunno.... maybe I'm way off base here..

just hoping someone could clue me in as to whats regulation weight for muay thai gloves?? I want something that I can use for bag work, sparring and competition if that makes it any easier to make a reccomendation. an all-round training glove if you will...

thanks for the info..

Best,

Kokoro

edit- these were the ones I was talking about.. http://www.combatsports.com/detail.aspx?ID=22229

16oz gloves for sparring and 10 or 12oz for bag work. If you can only afford one then get the 16oz for both usage.

hey everyone.. thank you very much for the recommendations.

but it seems no one has answered my original question...

what is the regulation weight for a muay thai fight..?? 8oz..? 10oz..?

I kinda know what I want for a glove... just curious about the regulation weight thing.

thanks for all the replies!

Best,

Kokoro

regulation fight gloves are 10oz... but those are fight gloves.. and usually when you go to fight they supply you with gloves... but for training 14 oz is always good.. fighting 10oz, training 14oz...
