when i was there i went to this big ass salt water lake, thats super warm..i highly recommend floripa..

the name of the gym that thiago trains at i think is murilo rupp jiu jitsu...when i get some free time ill check it out for you..

as for housing yeah i guess its cheap if you compare it to beach cities in the us...but some of the most expensive houses in the world are in floripa..depends what part of the city you live in
Thx for the info man. Yeah i saw that it said Tavares was from there but didnt know which camp.

Have you been using any computer programs or books to help learn Portugese? Like Rosta Stone or anything like that? Your port might be too advanced for Roseta Stone now but ive been curious to know if it is any good. Anyone here used it with any success?

Great thread!

I just found out work is shipping me down for three weeks later this month - Porto Alegre for half the time, then Floranopolis for the other half. While there, I wouldn't mind getting some bjj training in - do you have any recommendations for either location? Thanks!

true..... if you go, there are tons of language schools - or maybe a personal tutor that could teach you

yo Dyn - have you entered anymore competitions yet/ got any amature mma fights lined up-- or do u just train for fun
the ultimate goal is to start fighting, as of right now im just training, and waiting for an opportunity..there are lil submission tournaments all over the city every once and awhile

im just waiting for the next even to happen and i should be fighting..there is an amateur event thats called the estimulo thats put on by osmar dias who was our boxing trainer for a long time, and also has a sister academy called thai boxe...anyway his event every now and then has a couple of mma fights on it, so whenever the next one happens, hopefully i can get in on that

i have never used any books or cds, anything like that, but i can tell you the best and most beneficial way, is orkut...not only can u start making friends who speak portuguese, but you can start talking to girls who speak port, and english, and have the benefit of having girls to hook up with when you get here...haha, youd be surprised how many girls i met on this site..

not only that but if your out at a club, and you end up hooking up with a girl, more thn likely you will exchange phone numbers and shell ask if you have orkut...be prepared, and make one now!!, haha
