hey its great reading about your trip to brasil.. i am also interested in going there myself.. i just want to ask a few questions if you dont mind.. i know they are a very good MMA team, but i want to travel to brasil to improve on my BJJ and a little bit of wrestling, and i read on your posts that they do have that classes offered in their academy..
in comparison to training BJJ in america, do you think BJJ in chuteboxe is better skillwise than in training in serra's gym? what belts do you usually roll with there? are they mostly purples and up? has chuteboxe produced any top caliber grapplers that we know? thank you and i apologize if i was asking too much questions..

I have been and trained in Brazil---and yes the standard is way higher- I was a blue belt at the time and white belts were giving me a hard time

i did train with serra for a while back when i was younger..but to be honest i cant make the comparison just because i was younger and much more immature at the time..but to be honest alot of what serra taught me has stuck with me..i cant deny that hes a great instructor and his brother as well

but there is no doubt in my mind chuteboxe has more depth..we have luis brito, cristiano marcello..luis azeredo, whos one of the sickest grapplers u will ever see

i rolled with him a bunch last night..theres about 7 or 8 black belts..here where as at serras had 3..the majority of guys here are purple..but theres a decent amount of brown and blacks too

i for sure will agree that with a gi, the techinal aspect of training here will forever be more technical then it is in the states

i hope you come down and train with us sometime...

hey dyn,

i haven't posted in this thread a lot, but do you know why azeredo hasn't fought this year? the last fightfinder entry has his last fight in december of last year. maybe the pride contract problems? I loved watching him fight gomi and buscape and hope he fights again soon.

It's one of my goals to some day make it to brasil (trying to convince my fiance to let me make our honeymoon there!) and this thread has really done a lot towards pushing me to achieve that goal. Keep up the training and the great thread.
