Also I have a Brasilian friend who lived in Brasil for 14 years and he told me If i dont know anyone there or don't have a guide i shouldn't go. He said without having a guide it would be too dangerous and I wouldn't have nearly as much fun.
we have people come in who stop by to train all the time, alot of guys from other countries, come, spend a week, 2, maybe a month and then go home...while i was there , there was probably about 5 or 6 guys who came through, 2 americans, i remember one israeli, a polish guy..and if you count the guy from national geographic thats 3 americans..actually 4 cuz i just remembered one other...but noone stayed for to long..i think a couple of weeks at the most

as far as you going without knowing someone , sure it would be easier if you did, but half the fun is not knowing where your going, or what your doing really, and having to learn all those things by yourself..i feel accomplished as hell for what i did in my time in brasil, making friends, learning a new city, a new language..its all pat of it

if your smart, its not too dangerous..just use common sense , blend in, and youll be fine

not at all man, the beach is only like 50 mins away..i always said if curitiba had a beach it would be the best city in the world..but nothing is perfect right...its good to live there because your close enough to focus on training 5 days a week, and friday night go to the beach, and come back sunday night..all the positives of living in curitiba def outweight the negatives

I stumbled across this thread and ended up reading the entire thing. Very inspirational stuff, makes me want to drop everything and fly down to Brazil. I will do it, just a matter of time. And your story reminds me a lot of A Fighter's Heart, if anyone has read that. It was one of the main reasons behind me getting into fighting. Anyhow, thanks for the posts.

Anyone who is considering coming down here to hang out and train --do it. I come here at least one month out of the air to do exactly that. Right after New Years is perfect (it's nice and cold in the USA and niceeee and warm in Brasil). It's my way of boycotting winter officially.
