Are these gloves good for sparring?

So I was using Everlast 16oz gloves for sparring (yes I know I should have known better to buy that crappy brand). Anyways I wanted to get some new gloves so I ordered these:

http://www.mmawarehouse.com/Combat-S...p/csi-1006.htm

It says they're 7oz gloves but have the same shock dispersion as a 16oz gloves. So does that mean if I'm sparring a guy wearing a 16oz boxing glove it's going to be fair? Or is this glove more meant for bag work and lighter sparring?

I'm just wondering if I should get a set of traditional boxing gloves as opposed to these hybrid gloves as well? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Shock dispersion pertains to bag and pad work not sparring if your smart, buy a pair of boxing gloves, sparring with MMA gloves is no joke,a slight jab will turn into a shiner by morning.

Alright, cool. Thanks. And on that note, then what's a good boxing glove for its price?

if you're on a budget, you can't go wrong with ko fightgear or top contender. if you can shell out the money i personally like the fairtex gloves. BTW i use those same mma training gloves for light sparring. only hitting like 60%. very good gloves to use for training

Yeah, I've got them MMA gloves too and just use them for bag and pad work. I wouldn't recommend using them to do much sparring.

I personally don't own them but for the entire year i've been on Sherdog they have been praised with biblical like proportions,Lot of peopler say they're better than gloves twice their price.

Go with them, you won't find a better glove in that price range or for any range for that matter.

Make sure you get 16 oz. and remember to wear wraps when sparring,i've gotten more wrist injuries sparring than bag&pad work.

We use those gloves for MMA sparring at my gym (the small MMA training gloves - 6/7 oz).

If you're sparring with boxing gloves, you're not sparring MMA, you're sparring stand-up. Without the ability to grip your opponent, you can't train MMA.

That said, you do need to be careful not to be swinging 100% - and you should likely wear headgear or maybe a bit of vasoline on your face if you are doing a lot of sparring.

I would make sure to have both the MMA sparring gloves and some big 14/16 ozer's always on hand, as often you do just want to spar striking with no takedowns.

We've been wearing those for ground work mainly. We do some light striking when we roll at times so these help.
