cut up fabric (rags, bedsheets, t-shirts etc) is what most of them are filled with if you order them filled from the factory.

I just bought an unfilled one too and i'm going to go around to all the fabric stores in town and see if they'll just give me their scraps.

He is right they are filled with cut up rags old shirts. also take some freezer plastic bags and full them with sand to add throughout the bag. This will gie it some weight and with the rags around it you will never really kick the sand.

some have a pvc pipe in the center that is meant to be filled with sand, then the outside can be stuffed with rags, etc..

If you like the extra weight but the bag doesn't come with a pipe in the center you can follow Lucky Strikes suggestion of a card board mailtube filled with sand......me? I kick a stone pillar that holds up the roof of my garage because I've seen "Kickboxer" a 100 times.

Also forgot if you need any extra padding or heft you can head to your local tile and carpet floor specialist, they probably have a bunch of samples and scraps they'd probably sell for REAL cheap if not just give you.....ask nicely and say it's for your dog house.
