Is TapouT really for TUF Noobs?

The reason I ask is that I see very little TapouT on TUF, and their sponsorship seems to have decreased as the UFC has grown in poularity. They used to have all the cage posts, the centre of the octagon etc. now that the UFC is more main stream (in the US atleast) they seem to be being edged out by new companies keen to profit from the growing UFC.

I remeber when if you wanted MMA shorts the only recognisable company making them was TapouT and fighters wore them, not becuase they had fat sponsorship contracts, but beceause they were the the standard.

I'm making a stand for TapouT, they were in it before it was cool, they weren't in it for the money, they are not corporate fat cats.

(They are so old school infact that their shorts are a little outdated, but we shall overlook that for now)

In my opinion Tapout is for anyone that likes their stuff. I agree they are overpriced, but I have quite a few pro fighters at my gym and all of them wear at least some Tapout stuff. When it comes to gear, I say buy what you want, it's your money. People who train should not really give a flying fuck what brand you or anyone else wears. It's not a fashion contest. If I like it, that's all that matters.

Along with a host of other brands, but i have been using tapout gear long before I started selling it, mainly, as i stated, because it was THE brand back in the day. Lately however it has been getting a bashing from I suspect the very TUF noobs who are desprate to prove they are not.

Ok, maybe I meant that a different way. I see people on Sherdog post all the time saying that Tapout is for posers and for people that don't train or Noobs. Basically what I meant was the way people talk bad about it is like it's not the "cool" brand to have anymore. Kinda like how here in the U.S. after M.C. Hammer became really popular everyone wanted "parachute pants", well after he wasn't popular anymore if you wore a pair of them, or even owned a pair you would get made fun of. Seems like it's kinda the same thing with Tapout.

I judge that they are for newbs from the tournaments I've been to. A vast majority of guys who train at MMA hole-in-the-wall gyms with tribal tattoos tend to be the ones wearing their gear or having a sticker on their window. Obviously not everyone who wears their stuff is like that as I have friends who wear their gear and aren't dicks or n00bz but I'd say a vast majority of their fanbase are wannabe tough guys who scream "KNEES!" at a UFC event.

To me it seems strange though that newbies know and buy tapout, which was big in the beginning, over the brands that are promoting more heavily at the moment. I would have thought tapout wearers would have have been longer term fans.
