are sparring gloves okay for heavy bag work?

sorry for my newbness here (search function is acting retarded), but i'm getting my thai bag tomorrow (http://store.titleboxing.com/title-c...heavy-bag.html - great price too!) and while i have these gloves here (http://www.fairtex.com/product_info....es.htmlfairtex - pro sparring gloves 14oz)

should i run to the local fight store and buy some traditional bag gloves? like these for example

http://www.fairtex.com/product_info....ag-Gloves.html

besides the obvious difference in size, weight and shape, i guess what i'm asking is what are the pros and cons of using my current gloves compared to the traditional bag gloves?

ps - are everlast bag gloves that bad? is it really worth the money to buy a better brand?

Why has this topic literally come up like 5 times in the past 5 days...?

Here's what we've all basically come to a consensus about:
- If you CAN buy a pair of bag gloves and a pair for partner training/sparring, then do so...

- If you CAN'T buy 2 pair, then buy training gloves and use them for sparring...they'll just wear out quicker (and the foam at the front will eventually compress b/c training gloves are far softer than bag gloves...so that can potentially suck for your sparring partners down the road)

- If you DO buy only one pair of gloves, for the love of god, don't buy "bag gloves" that look like regular gloves...they're built to last and generally the foam is a LOT more dense than training gloves and it'll suck BIG TIME for your sparring partners...

- Try the compromise (two gloves without spending TOO much money)....get a pair of training gloves...use those for partner training, sparring, and Thai-pad work...get a pair of "traditional" bag gloves (the kind that just look like mittens) for heavy bag work...the only tradeoff is that you won't get 100% of the conditioning benefits of using a much lighter glove on the heavy-bag...so try using the training gloves for heavybag work every so often, just not all the time...so it'll save wear/tear on them...

- You'll get a better workout AND better protection if you use a 12, 14, 16 oz. glove for heavbag work vs. traditional mitten-esque bag gloves...plus you'll develop good habits b/c you're training in gloves "similar" (in weight, at least) to the gloves you'll spar/fight in...

- Generally, you get what you pay for...and how whether they're "good" or "bad" depends on your schedule of use for the Everlast bag gloves you're looking at (what kind are they?)...if you're training regularly and consistently, you'll want to invest in some better quality gloves (many of which, you can find reviews for on this site)...

Can we make this a sticky...?

If you can afford a pair of fairtex training gloves, you should be able to afford a middle of the road (title, ringside, CSI, Ect...) pair of bag gloves. You can get a good pair for 20-30 bones.
