Retro Design vs. New Age BJJ tshirt design

I've been wondering recently...

does the general mma/bjj/MA crowd (you guys, as a social cut) like the Affliction/Tapout design of t-shirts. The heavy metal influenced, heavily detailed, horroresque feel?

Recently in one of the other threads in grappling forum, i stumbled upon a file archive of old old Gracie photos.

The Gracies - Rolls Gracie

The Gracies - Rolls Gracie

These retro tshirts worn by Rolls are so much more my cup of tea, rather than the 'meathead' ones.

Does any brand nowadays make a decent mma/bjj t?

price of shirt is not proportionally comparative to the amount of stuff it has on it.

i hear you. i really can't stand all the mma wear that screams "i wanna kick your ass". as a consequence, i own nothing related to my sport other than gis and very subdued grappling shorts. i'd love to have a tshirt or something to show a bit of pride in what i spend 10hrs a week doing, but the thing is this: i'm not a bad ass. i don't want anybody to *think* i'm a bad ass. and i don't want anybody to think *i* think i'm a bad ass. it's just not my style. i prefer to demonstrate my skills on the mat, and win or lose i'll thank you graciously when we're through.

creatively, i really wish tshirt makers would start thinking conceptually. martial arts (traditional and modern) are all about hard work, tenacity and discipline. there's GOTTA be a way to convey that visually and tastefully.

thats exactly right man.

i dont want a skeleton riding a blackhorse, in a forest of spears with bats and shit overhead. With a tag like "pain something something tap something pain".

i just want a tastefully designed t. Judo has some pretty sweet ones, but i dont judo anymore.
