Question about a HCK gi......
I've been doing some research on them, and I know the basics: They are tough, affordable, thick collar, coarse on the inside, etc.
I still have two questions, though:
1. I'm toying with the idea of purchasing a double-weave. I know they are supposed to be ridiculously heavy, but I was thinking that might be a good thing for training. (Kind of like in Dragonball Z, where they train in the room with 100x gravity, LOL....../nerd.) Would this be a good idea, or is the double-weave overkill?
2. I have been unable to find a picture of the gi's in blue. All I see on the website is the white ones. Can anyone provide a pic of the blue gi?
Thanks.

Edit:
I found the picture on Budovideos.com:

It looks pretty good.....no crazy patches or anything.
I am still wondering about the single/double weave question though?

Double weave isn't "ridiculously" heavy, but it is definitely heavier and hotter than a single weave. I would wear double weave basically only during competition or if I was training in cool or cold weather. I would also consider a double weave if I was training a lot and it was my ONLY gi -- double weave is more durable than single weave.
Double weave also takes for fucking ever to dry, so if you do get one consider getting one that's REALLY big for you and machine drying it if you roll a lot.

Ok, I guess the double-weave is a bad idea.
Now the only question remaining is the size.....I am 5'8 and currently about 190 pounds. (Want to drop some weight, though.) Fairly stocky, and quite thick in the thighs/butt area.
I'm thinking size 6 jacket with size 5 pants? (I'm also emailing the site owner to ask his opinion on this)

I used to like heavy gis but now I can't stand the thought of putting on a double weave. The lighter the gi the better. I gave my HCK comp double away. It is far heavier than any other double.

What's the difference between the Regular Single and the competition single?
Is the competition single more like a gold weave?

I am not sure about the differences.
Heres my sizes for HCK gis.
I am 5'10" 180lbs. Muscular build.
I bought a size 5 gi. The jacket was great, the pants were HUGE. I sent the pants back and got a size 4 pants. PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT.
For me a HCK, size 5 jacket and size 4 pants, is the best fitting gi I've ever had.
edit: if you 5'8" do not get size 5 pants. believe me, you dont want pants that you may step on. if anything you want your pants to be on the short side. Order a size 4 pants.

Thanks for your response.
Howard himself recommended a size 5 for me. While I think you may be right that they will be long, my primary concern with the pants is how much room I'll have in the thighs. I have torn several pairs of pants thus far, particularly while taking drop steps/shooting. For that reason, I am thinking that I should get larger pants and have the length trimmed, rather than have them be too tight.

okay I understand.
If you are willing to pay the extra money to have them trimmed, then definitly get the size 5. My advice was if you just getting them "stock." When you get the pants, dry the hell out of them HOT HOT HOT. Go to a laundromat and use a high powered dryer, it may even get them short enough for you.
