Problem with Gameness Platinum Weave gi?
Hey guys, I am new to posting to the forum, but have been browsing around a lot on sherdog. Just wanted to say hi.
I own bunch of different BJJ and Judo gis, (Mizuno, addidas, MKimono, HCK), and I heard a lot of good things about Gameness platinum, so I order the gi. Everyone was raving about its quality on this forum. But I was little bit concerned about its quality.
First of all, this gi is the "authentic" gameness, from Ed Clay, which is made in pakistan. Its not the "fake" gameness made in brazil.
The gi looked great when I first got it. The cotton was bit stretchy, but I did not mind that.
The problem was the wash. It said in the collar to wash in gentle cycle, so I did. I used VERY LITTLE detergent in washing the gi. I washed the gi two times to let the dye out of the gi.
After the wash, it seemed like gi was breaking apart. When I took it out of the washer, there were bunch of cotton threads being undone, making little cotton balls here and there, and even some of the stitchings were showing. When I was hang drying, I picked out all the cotton pieces and cut off all the threads that were showing.
This was a big concern for me for two reasons- 1. It questioned how long the gi was going to last. If a single wash could do this much damage, (on gentle cycle), it seems as though after 20 or so washes, the whole gi would come apart.
2. If the stitching is undone with a single wash, it may make it prone to tear during practice.
On a minor note, I found it a bit irratating that the blue dye was transferred a bit on the gameness logos. Not a big deal, but anyone know any good tricks to get this out?
I am going to go roll in it today, and let you guys know what I think.
I have NEVER had a problem with gis like this previously. Is this normal for the gameness gi, or did I just recieve a faulty one?
Thanks!

I just got this exact same gi, and none of this has happened to me. The gi stitching and logos are holding up perfectly.

Never had much problems with my gameness. It ripped after a few years but they sent me another one no questions asked. Great customer service and great quality gi's.

i have a gameness platinum blue and i haven't noticed any problems with it. when i recieved it the first thing i did was let it soak in a vineger and water solution to lock in the blue dye then washed it in a regular cycle with cold water and my regular detergent. i even put it in the drier to shrink it for a better fit. i have not seen any transfer of the dyes on to the patches or anything else i washed it with and the gi hasn't pilled or lost any threads. if you are concerned about the quality than write to gameness, thier customer wervice is exceptional and i'm sure they will help.my platinum was my second gameness gi and the quality on both have been top notch, i'd buy another without hesitation.

Thanks for your reply guys.
So I guess it is likely that it is a faulty product.
I just sent an e-mail to gameness with my concerns. I hope they will do something about it.
Thanks again!

Right after I washed it, it actually looked like it "expanded". After it hang dried, it went back to its original size, actually even slightly bigger- no shrinkage at all.
After I picked all the threads and piled cotton, I washed it again in cold, and put it in the dryer to make it shrink. It shrank about 2 inches overall around the sleeves, and little bit more around the stomach.
Im sure you can control the shrinkage though- through how you wash, and how long you put it in the dryer.
On the other hand, it has been 2 days since I emailed gameness, still no response...... Should I be worried?

Mistafighta,
I never received an e-mail from you and this is the first time I've been on the forum in quite a while so it is the first I've heard about this.
Just send the gi back and let us take a look at it. Of course we will send you another gi. Be sure to put a note inside with your name and address and also put a tracking number on it.
Gameness has always stood behind our products and if we can't figure out what happened to the gi we will send it back to the manufacturer and let them figure it out.

Thank you Regina. I respect your attitude of standing behind your products.
I have sent an E-mail to customerservice@gameness.net on Jun 2nd, 3:18PM, titled "Problem with a gameness gi", from President.nwga@gmail.com. Please check the mail again.
I have also sent an E-mail to Cory Jones, at cjones@clayenterprises.com today (June 4th), letting him know of the problem. No reply yet.
Where should I send the gi to? Would I be responsible for the shipping charges? Should I send the gi pants back as well?
Thanks for your prompt response.
Shin
